About The Event

Did you know that in the UK, some 90% of the cut flowers bought are imported, often from the other side of the world?

Intensive growing methods and the use of pesticides and plastics may give the perfect bloom, but at what cost to the environment?

In the first of OxCAN’s sustainable lifestyles series that focuses on small changes individuals can make to reduce their environmental impact, Dr Sarah Benson, an Energy and Commodities Consultant who also runs a small cut flower business in Buckinghamshire, will explain ways we can all continue to enjoy our favourite bunch while being kinder to the planet. Dr Benson is passionate about British-grown flowers from small scale farms, which offer a seasonal, beautiful, and often quirky alternative to the supermarket quick buy. One for all our green-fingered greenies out there!
