About The Event
Ben manages SHARE Oxford, a community group dedicated to reducing unnecessary consumption and waste in the city. This includes a Library of Things and Repair Café, as well as helping groups and charities source stuff they need from the community rather than buying new.
Ben’s excited to be seeing the potential for this sort of project to reduce “grudging consumption” - it’s a win-win if you don’t need to buy a carpet cleaner you don’t really want to have to store and look after to clean your carpets once a year. It’s also clear that this is just the start of the reduction in consumption that countries like the UK need to reach a sustainable level.
Ben would be interested to hear where you find inspiration about low-consumption lifestyles which are not just worthy, but genuinely better, a route to more joy. Who inspires you? What would you find hardest to give up in reducing your consumption? How important do you see this in our route to net zero?
We look forward to hearing your ideas and will pull a blog post together after the session, hoping our ideas can inspire others.
