About The Event
It is common practice to tell simple stories. Eating local is best. Veganism will save the planet. Compostable bags are super amazing. But nothing about food is simple, and dumbing it down does a disservice to everyone who participates in it. This talk will answer almost no questions. Instead, it will get you thinking about what 'best' really means, about what your agenda is, and what that means for practical and pragmatic actions that you might take or demand.
Emma Burnett is a doctoral researcher at the Centre for Agroecology, Water and Resilience at Coventry University. She is focusing on local agri-food systems and how actors cooperate, compete, and self-organise. She is also an occasional writer, cat fosterer, and gamer. Emma did her MSc in Biodiversity, Conservation, and Management in 2009-10.
