Come Discuss OxCAN’s Mission and Get Involved!

OxCAN’s Mission is to connect alumni of Oxford who care deeply about the climate to, 1) other alumni to the latest Oxford climate research 2) to climate and sustainability initiatives at the University of Oxford and 3) in order to ultimately drive increased Climate Action and Resilience at Oxford and throughout society.

OxCAN’s Strategic Milestones

By 2030 our aim is to grow the membership of OxCAN to cover at least 2.5% of the Oxford Alumni community by 2025, and 5% of the Oxford Alumni community by 2030 (with a goal of doubling the community every ten years from there so that 1/5 Oxford alumni are involved with OxCAN by 2050).

By 2030 our aim is that all OxCAN members will be working for and participating in institutions with robust net zero climate strategies, with bio-diversity net gain goals, and near term targets (per Oxford-developed global Race to Zero criteria).

By 2050 our aim is for all OxCAN members to be working for and participating in institutions that have achieved their net zero and biodiversity net gain targets and which are working towards adopting fully circular and regenerative strategies (following from Oxford’s research on sustainability and operating within our planetary boundaries).

Our aim is that OxCAN by 2025 all colleges and departments in Oxford have clear sustainability and climate strategies so that all Oxford students have a sustainable learning environment, and that all students have access to sustainable learning and sustainable careers. We see it as our responsibility to help give back to Oxford to support sustainable progress at the University.

Come discuss these milestones and the OxCAN Projects that will help us meet these ambitious milestones!
