Fireside Discussion: The Role of the Financial System in Achieving Net Zero

This fireside chat will explore how the financial system can directly influence the decarbonisation effort. It will include a discussion led by Ariel Perez (Head of Environmental Products, Hartree Partners) of the role of the European emissions trading scheme (and other such tools in California and China), and the emerging voluntary carbon markets in aiding society to achieve net zero emissions. The conversation will then be led by Kaya Axelsson (Net Zero Policy Engagement Fellow working with the Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment and the Environmental Change Institute) who will provide information about the new standard for carbon offsetting which was recently launched by Oxford academics in September of this year. The discussion shall be moderated by Jonathan Pierre (Chief Business Officer at Mantle Labs).
